Item of the week - January 2013

This week I've picked these beautiful eye shadow quads by Tom Ford Beauty as product of the week. Each color quad is designed with four opulent complimenting shades that achieve multiple looks. From a bold smokey eye to a sultry slash of color and everything in between. These eye shadows are amazing, some of them have one or 2 ultra shimmery eyeshadows in them. The sparkles in these eye shadows are unique, I haven't found anything quite like them yet. Tip: When applying the spakled eye shadows, spray the brush with MAC Fix plus after you dipped the brush into the eye shadow; this will make the sparkles stick better and makes them more vibrant. The price on these eye shadows is $ 75.- (US), this is a lot of money for an eye shadow quad, but I do think they are worth it; you get 10 g of product and the packaging is amazing. As for the other products in the Tom Ford line, I got the chance to use the mascara; which is quite good too. I also bought 2 brushes by Tom Ford which I love and use every day! Tom Ford is available online or in store at the following stores: Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and Barneys New York. There are about 11 different eye shadow quads.

In the pictures above you can see 3 of the 4 available palettes. From left to right we have light (nc15, nc20, w10, nw20, pale yellow and pale pink), medium (nc30, nc35, nw25, nw35, mid yellow and mid peach) and medium deep (nc40, nc42, nw40, nw43, rich yellow and burnt coral). The last one which I don't have (yet) is dark (nc45, nc50, nw45, nw55, Ochre and Pure orange). The palettes are compact, very convenient for a makeup artis, but also when you're not I can see how you can get great use out of these palettes, consealing imperfections or correcting dark circles with the colour correctors! Last year Urban Decay started with a new system for their eye shadows; allowing them to be put into a palette, so you don't have to carry around seperate eye shadows anymore! When I bought my first palette they had a palette available that can hold 6 eyeshadows. You can see this palette in the picture above on the left side. This palette came with a free eye shadow called 'walk of shame' ; a nice brow high lighter. At the moment Urban Decay has a palette available that can hold 4 eyeshadows. This palette also comes with a free eye shadow called 'melt'. You can see the eye shadow in the right picture below; it's the bottom left eye shadow in the palette.

All the eyeshadows when you buy them come in their own container, so you will still be able to take them with you seperately. The eye shadow pops out of the container when you push gently on the back (be careful when you do this, you don't want it to drop on the floor when it suddenly pops out!). There are 68 shades available, you can buy them at Sephora for CA$2.,- each, the palette that holds 4 eye shadows will cost you CA$22.- and comes with a free eye shadow (melt).
