NEW MAC pro palettes

A while ago I found out that MAC came out with a new system of pro palettes, replacing the old version. As for the old MAC pro palettes, I know they feel a bit flimsy, but I do like the way you can easily take out an eye shadow or blush because of the side slots. The old MAC pro palette version is also much thinner, easier to fit in your kit, and when you take out the insert you can fit 27 MAC eyeshadows in the old MAC pro palette versus 24 in the new  MAC pro palette.

Now let's not be too negative, when I first got the new MAC pro palette I have to say that it did feel more sturdy than the old ones. Apparently there will be an option to put 2 layers in this palette, which would make it convenient to fit in your kit. Because we now have a clear plastic lid on our MAC pro palette it will make it easier to find the right colors faster. If you don't want to use the insert, you don't have to buy it, and what is great with this new MAC pro palette is that you won't have to glue magnets on your de-potted eyeshadows anymore, the palette itself is magnetic!

Now lets talk prices and options: the old MAC pro palettes were CA $14,50. A new empty MAC pro palette will cost you now CA $ 21,50 in addition to that you will have to buy the inserts separately, and will cost you CA $ 11,-. You can chose out of 4 different inserts; the eyeshadow insert (15), blush insert (6), insert with 12 wells and an insert with 24 wells. Now the last 2 are great if you want to create your own concealer or lipstick palette!

At the moment I have one new MAC pro palette in use in my kit, so I'm curious on how it will endure time. I've travelled many times with my old palettes, and when you put a Kleenex as a protective layer into your old MAC pro palette, there's no problem. As for not seeing the colors, I always label my MAC palettes so no problem there either. If you want to know which products you have in your MAC palette, you can label them on the bottom (outside), or on the clear lid if you prefer. One last thing; I find getting the inserts out of the palette a bit of a pain, and I already nicked one of my blushes by doing that. You have to press on the insert, then it will pop out.
