Urban Decay NAKED Basics review!

Here I was shopping for Christmas gifts in our busy mall when I stumbled on this little new hot item! I was a bit surprised I found it and that they weren't sold out yet. Just my luck, perfect for me to do an in depth review on this new travel size NAKED palette by Urban Decay.

When taking the palette out of its packaging it measures 2" x 4" or roughly 5,5 cm x 10,5 cm, it has a full size mirror and 6 eye shadows 1,3 g (same amount as a mac eye shadow. This palette doesn't come with a brush, but does have a nice mirror. To be honest I would have liked a brush with it, but on the other hand I'm not a big fan of the brushes that usually come with the Urban Decay palettes. I do like the overall look, and the palette has a good feel to it (not flimsy).

Now let's talk about the colours inside! First thing I noticed, and this I found surprising from Urban Decay, is that we have 5 matte eye shadows and 1 shimmery or satin eye shadow. This makes this palette wonderful for mature women too! I believe that this is something that I miss a bit in the regular NAKED palettes, so even if you already have both, I would still get this one, because of the matte shades. I've swatched all the shades and found good pigmentation in all the shades. With Crave I found in the swatch it was a bit chalky,   but when I applied it on my eyes I didn't get that feeling and found it did blend well. All the other shades have a nice feel, slightly creamy which will make it easy to blend.  As for the variety of colours, I think they did well, the shades naked 2 and faint you could also use to set your eyebrow pencil which I find great. Venus is great to use on the inner corner of your eye, or as a highlighter. Foxy can be used as a highlighter or all over the lid, with w.o.s. (walk of shame) in the crease for a very soft day look. With naked 2 or faint you can make it a darker day look, and for a dramatic smokey eye add crave. Crave can also be used as an eyeliner.

All in all a great palette for travelling, on the go or touch ups! Available on line at Sephora and select shoppers drug marts for c$ 32, -   ( $27,- us).
