Wedding & graduation makeup tips

Having your wedding or graduation day can bring on a lot of emotions! This is that special day that you've been looking forward to for a long time. A lot of time and preparetion has been done for this day, and you want to look your best from the beginning of the day all the way up to the party at night! Here are a few tips from me as a makeup artist that will make your makeup last longer throughout the day.

For your special day it's always a good idea to have it done by a professional. I always advice to have a trial done before any event so you'll have that perfect look you want for that special day. Klink here to see my rates and book your appointment by calling my number +60126727271 or email me on doriensmobilemakeup@gmail.com. Go for a classic, pretty look. Avoid doing a trendy look when it comes to graduation or a wedding. The pictures taken will last you for decades, and you want to look your best for a long time without looking back at your look thinking what was I doing?

With every makeup it is impartant to have a flawless base. Make sure you use your moisturizer followed by your favourite face primer. A face primer will create a barrier between your skin and the foundation so the oils of your skin won't break down your foundation during the day. Also the primer can help reducing fine lines and reduces redness of the skin! After the primer I always like to spray MAC fix plus (CA $ 24.- ) all over to make the foundation last even longer. When choosing your foundation: try to avoid using one that has sunscreen in them (eg. titanium dioxide), The SPF in the product is meant to reflect light and prevent sunburns, but when being photographed with a flash; this will reflect and wash out the color giving you a ghostly look on pictures! The day of your wedding / graaduation try to avoid the sun as much as you can when you're prone to sunburns.

Use an eye primer! There are many brands that have eye primers in their line, pick your favourite! My personal favourite is 'painterly' paintpot by MAC (CA $ 22.-) that comes in a range of colors to play around with. I apply this cream base with my finger, it's very easy to use and makes your eyeshadow stay all day!

Set your foundation with a powder to make it last and to soften any lines created by the foundation! The powder will prevent creasing. If you have an oily skin, use a blot powder and carry this around in your purse to take away the shine. Be careful with powders that contain light reflecting particles, this can again, like the foundations with sunscreen, wash out your face in pictures taken with a flash.

When choosing your lipstick, choose a color you are comfortable with, and you can touch up easily. Always use a lip pencil close to the color of your lipstick, line your lips AND fill in your lips with the pencil to use this as a base for your lipstick! Check if the lipstick doesn't transfer on your teeth (like just before having your picture taken).

Use waterproof Mascara, we all get a bit emotional on these special days!

Last but not least; Enjoy and have fun!
