Create your own MAC lipstick palette!
In the following tutorial you can
see how you can make your own MAC lipstick
palette!
MAC recently re-styled their customizable pro palettes, for full details on the full range of pro palettes klik here.
With the new line of pro palettes
there is an option to buy seperate inserts with empty wells (12 or
24), the inserts cost CA $ 11,-. Now you can make your own lipstick
palette, and below I'll show you how to do this. Keep in mind that
we will be using a candle, so make sure that you set up your tools
in a safe environment!
This is what you need in order to
make the lipstick palette: an empty MAC pro palette (CA $ 21,50),
an empty MAC pro insert with 12 wells (CA $ 11,-), lipsticks in any
colour (I used all MAC lipsticks, but you can use any brand you
like), a candle, a spoon, a spatula, alcohol or sanitizer, and
something pointy.
Before you start make sure you
sanitize everything to avoid cross contamination! Make sure that
you do this in a spot where there are no carpets or fabrics close
by, if you have a little accident it can be a pain to clean! So
don't wear your best clothes either :), just warning you, I can be
clumsy sometimes, so I take precautions.
Take the lipstick and with the
pointy tool pierce the listick on the side and gently pull it out.
If you're lucky the lipstick will come out entirely, and you don't
waste any product! Don't worry if it doesn't work, it's just a bit
messier to get everything out of the container. Put the lipstick in
the spoon.
Next you will hold the spoon with
the product above the candle. Make sure you don't hold it too close
to the flame; we don't want our lipstick to start boiling! When
everything has melted you carefully move the spoon towards the
palette and pore the product into the well you want it. To even the
product out in the well you can wiggle the palette a bit so the
product will cover the entire well. The wells are deep enough to
fitt a full sized lipstick and some more.
I use the spatula to scrape the rest of the
product from the spoon.
Once the product has hardened you
can peal the sticker from the bottom of your lipstick and attach
this on your palette, so you will allways know what you carry in
your palette. I prefer to stick the labels on the back of the
palette, but that's up to you.
And there you have it! A MAC pro
palette with 12 colours! Another benefit from this is that you can
recycle your empty MAC containers at your local MAC location and
you can choose a free lipstick lipgloss or eyeshadow! Have fun
creating your palette!
